Your Nostalgia Created a Non-Existing Country
Memories are never linear. In Your Nostalgia Created a Non-Existing Country, Luján Pérez’s large works on paper, mixing printmaking, painting and drawing, become in-between territories where dreams, thoughts and memories blend: a dinner table seen by a five-year-old, the tender exchange of an imagined flower, a loved one’s toes wiggling.
A nomad since the age of five, Luján roots herself through nature. Cuttings inspired by the yellow oleander, beautiful yet toxic, rise from the silhouettes of the Spanish pots she grew up around, a thread running through every piece. Gradient grey walls, small sculptures and a light, induced air flow let the works, hung away from the walls on sculptural fixtures, move subtly, as fleeting as their subject.
