Silencio – Young Boy Dancing Group
In October 2024, Young Boy Dancing Group arrived in Paris on a wave. The Zurich-based collective had just come off a run of feverishly received shows in New York, and was in town for Art Basel Paris week to stage a performance with Bárbara Sánchez-Kane at the newly opened Dover Street Market.
Silencio, the club David Lynch conceived on rue Montmartre, offered a different kind of room: low, dark, after hours, already half a dream. Since 2014, YBDG has worked in structured improvisation, bodies contorting under light, with sound and sculpture folded into the choreography and each performance rebuilt for the place it happens in.
Here, that meant a crowd pressed close to the dancers, no edge between floor and stage, and a night the room seemed to perform along with them.
